Good Monday morning. Have you been crafting long enough to remember when the only way to make a pillow box was have it printed on cardstock, hand cut and then hand scored? I have! Years ago I had my husband create several difference sizes of them in Photoshop so I could make boxes for gifts. They made such cute gift boxes but were fairly tedious to cut them out by hand. My projects today were made with the new Lawn Fawn Pillow Box. Wow! What a snap it was to cut, fold and assemble the boxes. All the boxes were assembled using double stick tape.
I decorated the boxes with lots of different dies. The first one was made using the new Santa’s Belly set. I was so intrigued when I saw this and thought it would make such a cute box for children and adults alike. The dies not only cut but have score lines that perfectly fit the box. There’s no guesswork necessary. I attached the belt and scalloped pieces to the box with double stick tape. The buckle and buttons were cut with gold foil paper and attached with glossy accents. The holly was made from a section of the Memory Box Jolly Holly Branches. I added red stickles to the berries but it doesn’t show much in the pictures.
The second box was made using My Mind’s Eye Cozy Christmas. II think this is such a perfect box for a masculine gift. used the Santa belt from the Santa’s Belly set for the snow layer and used my deckle scissors to cut the top portion to create a natural snowy look. I attached it to the box with double stick tape. I added a deer from the Impression Obsession Deer Trio, Evergreen Trees, and Pine Sprig Set. The deer was colored using vintage photo ink and a mini applicator. The trees were painted using white gesso and a brush. All the images were attached with mounting tape and glossy accents.
The third box was also made using the Cozy Christmas paper and the flowers and band were made using the American Craft Christmas Glitter Paper. I think this is such an elegant box for a lady. I used the belt from the Santa’s Belly set to create the band and the flowers and foliage were made using the Impression Obsession Small Poinsettia Set, Pine Pair and Pine Sprig Set. The flowers and foliage were formed using Susan’s Garden Tool Kit stylus and molding pad. I arrange and attached the pieces using glossy accents. I added a drop of yellow stickles to the flower centers to finish.
Here’s a picture showing that the box is the perfect size to use for a gift card or other small items. The size of the assembled box is 4.25” x 2.25”.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my different versions of the gift box. I’m going to try and make a few more to share this week. They are so fast and easy and fun to make. Have a great Monday and thanks for coming by.
