25 Days of Christmas Tags

25 Days of Christmas TAgs

Good Monday morning. I am excited to be joining day 23 of Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event and representing Ellen Hutson and using her Essentials by Ellen product line. Handmade tags add such a lovely personal touch to our holiday gifts. If you need inspiration to help you come up with new ideas you need to check out all the wonderful tags on Tracey’s blog at My Creative Opinion

I love all of Julie’s stamps and die sets but have to admit my favorite of all is the precious Tis The Season sets.  Julie introduced the stamp set last holiday season and blessed us with a matching die set this year.  I simply adore the little car with it’s Christmas tree loaded on top.  The car and tree are so whimsical and perfect to create a small scene on a tag.

I used the Poppystamps Pinpoint Main Street Tags set to create both the base and frame for my tag.  I cut the base using icy mint cardstock and created a falling snow background using an image from the Holly Jolly set.   I stamped the image with white pigment ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I cut the bottom portion of the tag in white and then cut it with my deckle scissors to create ground snow for the scene. I attached the snow layer to the back of the frame using double stick tape, punched the 1/4” hole in the base and then attached the frame to the base using thin strips of mounting tape.

I stamped the image on red paper using black versafine ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I stamped the top portion of the car and tree on green several times and embossed.  I hand cut two trees to attach to the top of the car.  I attached the trees with glossy accents and offset them just a tiny bit to create fullness.  I cut the wheels off the stamped car image and then used tow 1/2” black punched circles and 1/8” punched circles to create the wheels. I just wanted to add more dimension to the car.  I cut a few more trees to add to the scenic background.

I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the trees and tucked them in behind the ground snow and attached to the base.  The car was attached with strips of mounting tape. I finished by attaching a red and white gingham ribbon for the tie.

  1. Love your tag and there were some really great ones at Tracey’s site, too. You know I love tags and enjoy making them as much as my Christmas cards. Inspiration overload??? Yes!!! My mind is already spinning this morning. Spent all day in my craft room yesterday…put on my Christmas music and went to town. (grin) Plan to repeat today.
