Good Sunday morning. I have a see thru window card to share with you today. I love making window cards with floral arrangements. The Impression Obsession Large Window is the perfect size to pair with the Candle and floral pine and poinsettia spray.
I started by attaching the coordinating designer paper to the front and inside of the card. Next I cut two windows, one for the front and one for the inside. I used the window as a template to draw lines on the card front indicating where I needed to cut the opening for the window. I used my craft knife to cut along the lines to create the opening. Check out my See Thru Window tutorial if you would like to step by step photos to create a window card. I attached mounting tape to the back of the first window and attached it over the opening on the card front. The raw edges of the opening needs to be covered on the inside of the card as well as the front. I turn to the inside of the card front, attached double stick tape to the second window and attached it over the inside opening. I was very careful to make sure the front and inside windows line up perfectly.
I cut the candle out of red glitter paper and the candle holder out of gold foil paper and attached them together with glossy accents. I attached it to the window using pieces of mounting tape. The flame was cut using yellow cardstock and attached over the candle with a tiny piece of mounting tape. I used yellow stickles to add some sparkle to the flame. I cut several pieces of the pine, formed them lightly with my fingers and then attached them to the window base being careful not to totally cover up the gold candle holder. I made three small poinsettia flowers using red glitter paper and the tiny flowers from the Spring Wreath set. I used my stylus and molding pad to form the petals and attached the flowers together with glossy accents. I attached the flowers to the pine with glossy accents and then finished by attaching the tiny flowers to add additional color to the spray.
Here’s a view from the side so you can see the open window and dimension created using both windows on the opening..
If you are like me you are getting your grocery list ready for your Thanksgiving celebration. I am only cooking for my husband and myself but I still like to make all the traditional dishes that accompany the turkey. I always have to remind myself to scale down the size of my dishes when only cooking for the two of us as I always seem to go overboard. I love leftovers but not for days and days. LOL!
I want to offer you a chance to win ribbon blog candy. Who doesn’t love ribbon!!! Those of you that follow my blog know how much I love to shop at Ellen Hutson. With an order here and there I ended up with 15 or 20 of those wonderful one yard packages of May Arts satin ribbon “Thank You” gifts that Ellen tucks into each order. All you have to do to be entered into my random drawing is leave a comment on this post telling me if you use fresh or canned cranberries for your holiday dinner. This ought to be fun! You will have until 5:00 pm on Wednesday the 25th to leave your comment. I will announce the winner on Friday the 27th.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
Card size” 5.50” x 4.25”
Good Sunday Morning, Kittie,
Love the card you made with the window. Very pretty and, again, the MME DSP is so pretty.
Dittos on cooking for just 2 people… I’m not a great cook, but I do always want to have the traditional meals during the holidays. Our kids go to my son-in-law’s parents’ for Thanksgiving, so it’s just the two of us. It is difficult to scale down for two. As for cranberries….my SIL, who is a chef, makes a fresh cranberry chutney that he shares with us each year, so I serve that at Christmas when they come for our gathering. I really don’t eat it, however, but it looks beautiful in a Christmas china dish.
Gorgeous card! These aren’t easy but you make everything look doable! As for cranberry, my answer is neither! I don’t host any dinners – but I attend them! However, since I don’t like it/eat it, I’m not sure what my family uses as I’ve generally ignored the cranberry. Thanks for a lovely giveaway!
What a beautiful card, Kitty. Your cards are so ingenious! Mine never quite turn out looking like that. LOL! I don’t host Thanksgiving so I usually just do a side dish and it usually isn’t cranberries. This year I have sweet potato casserole. But if I did make cranberries they would definitely have to be fresh. We’ve moved away from processed foods in the hope of eating better. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Lovely card Kittie! I will add it to my Pinterest boards of your cards for future reference. Being Canadian, we have already celebrated our Thanksgiving. I’m afraid that I have to admit that I used canned cranberries. Only some of my family eat them and with so many other dishes to prepare, l decided on the easier route and used canned. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
I actually use both! Use fresh cranberries in 2 different salads I make and use both kinds of canned to slice and serve with the turkey! Love fresh cranberry salads..I actually make 3 different ones. We have 20 for Thanksgiving so e dry one had their favorites!
Fresh! I love them & always have a bag or two in the freezer and whip up a batch of sauce whenever the mood hits.
LOVE the paper you used – it makes this card beautiful!
I love your card. Depending on the recipe, I have used both.
Your card is so beautiful! Your cards have a precision about them that makes every one exquisite. Love it! Oh, I use canned cranberries. Happy Thanksgiving!
In years past I used both fresh and canned and now I usually only use fresh cranberries. I cook them for a sauce. Chop them and oranges for a relish. Add them fresh to an apple pie (about 1/2 cup cranberries per pie before baking) and it is all yummy! This year I think I will make a coffee cake for Thanksgiving breakfast – my recipe uses fresh cranberry relish. So good!
You always have beautiful cards to share with us. I look at every card!
Kittie you always do amazing job and never disappoint! Love your work! As for the cranberries – I buy them fresh and cook myself (sauces etc).
Just beautiful and thank you for the step by step tutorial!
I have a fantastic recipe for cranberry sauce made in the microwave.
Just cranberries, sugar and orange zest. 5 min on high and yummmmmmm.
it’s a super beautiful card, perfect for this christmas!
Hi Kittie. I personally do not like fresh cranberries. I do, however, like the canned. I do not post too often, on your blog, because I would be saying the same thing day after day. I love every one of your card creations. You are one of my most favorite designers. I save every one of your card pictures, hoping to be able to create something as pretty as you do one day. Also for inspiration. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Great card Kittie! I prefer fresh cranberries. Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful paper again for your background and I so love your window cards as well as the rest of your designs. While Ive had cranberries both ways I was raised on the canned cranberries and have become fond of them, habit you know.
Hi Kittie,
Love your card style .Excitedt to open your post and see what
you have created next.
I am cooking for my hubby and me also so always canned cranberries.
Thanks for a chance to win ” RIBBON “.
Hi Kitti,
I always love to see your window cards and have made a few myself, but often wonder where you place your greeting? As for cranberries, fresh, fresh, Fresh!
I like the fresh cranberries only if someone else is making them. Canned cranberries are my first choice. That’s great with leftovers. A slice of cranberries and turkey in a bun is so simple and good.
I use canned cranberries because I don’t gave time to make fresh with all the other things I gave to make. Don’t like the jelly cranberries though. Pretty card, as usual. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Beautiful card!
I use Ocean Spray jellied cranberry sauce.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband.
I love your card and thank you for the tutorial.I love the canned gel cranberry!
What a GORGEOUS CARD, Kittie!!! I LOOOVE the addition of the candle in the window to your famous window scene!!! 😉 JUST GORGEOUS!!!! Question: Do you make EVERYONE the same Christmas card or do you do different cards for each? AND are each of your cards ELEBORATE, needing special mailing? Just a thought that came to me! 😉 As for your question: I use FRESH! Even if the recipe calls for canned, I use fresh. I have several different recipes that I use changing them around each year, so we don’t get tired of the same dish. We do have our FAVORITE of those dishes though…. It seems I am always looking for a new & delish cranberry dish too, so I am adding to my list of cranberry dishes as I find them. But, fresh is ALWAYS BEST!!! 😉
my goodness, this is just beautiful! it looks like a scene taken straight from someone’s home!
as for cranberries, I use both canned and fresh and dried! 😉
canned whole berry AND jellied sauce to go with the turkey, fresh and dried in my baking. no one except me likes the fresh cranberries in sauce, so I go with the canned for that.
fun question! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! 🙂
I’ll admit I use canned cranberries. In SC it’s too hard to find fresh. I love all your window cards and this one for Christmas is beautiful.
Your card is so beautiful!! When I do use cranberries, I use fresh because I make a chutney to go along with the turkey!
Love it. The pin button doesn’t show the right picture so I shared on Facebook. I actually prefer cranberry jelly ! I have made my own cranberries before and they were delicious so I prefer them to the canned. Happy Thanksgiving!
Good Morning, Kittie. Love your candle in the window. we used to do that with a electric wreath an candle in our window, when growing up. Beautifully done. love the print paper to accent, reminds me of wall paper. as many had then.
Cranberries, I use fresh for relish, dried for muffins, and fresh for a holiday jello salad. I usually purchase a few fresh packages in the fall and freeze to have for many months after the holidays. cranberries are healthy and taste good on toast or muffins.Yummmm. (thanks for your holiday gift whether I win or not)
Just my husband and self for Thanksgiving so we go to Fort Hood, for Thanksgiving buffet each yr.a special time, white table cloths, many, many choices, and often times we take someone who doesn’t have a family close to celebrate with us. The Club serves over 600 that day, with 2 serving. a blessing
to all who attend. However; do make a sweet potato pie an the holiday cranberry salad to have later to snack on………Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your hubby and many blessings.
Another beautiful card Kittie! That window is just gorgeous!!! Fresh cranberries all the way! Happy Thanksgiving!
Pretty card – love the red color, just like cranberries! I use fresh cranberries in muffins and breads ( been trying some almond flour recipes lately) and adding orange flavor is yummy.
Fresh cranberries, sugar (or honey or applesauce), orange juice, orange zest and some salt. Really tasty!
Kittie, first I must tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Discovered it a month or two back and am always excited to see your updates! Secondly, I use fresh frozen with oranges, walnuts, and celery. Mmmmm! Yummy salad alone or on the turkey! Finally, thank you for the opportunity to win blog candy. I adore ribbon and you can never have too much!! Thanksgiving Blessings, CJ
WOW Kittie, your card is just stunning as always!
We have a friend who picks cranberries locally and sells them really reasonably so I buy a lot from him in the fall and can them to have throughout the winter. Its great to have them on hand when ever we want them plus it is only the two of us at home now too so I make smaller jars.
Really Gorgeous!!
Another beautiful card!! I use both fresh and canned cranberry. My husband will only eat the canned kind and the rest of my family likes fresh!
Oftentimes, If I host dinner, I make homemade cranberries, when I’m invited elsewhere, I bring homemade cranberries, made from an old recipe handed down through the family … the only way to go! Love your card. Everything coordinates for beautifully.
Kittie, I love this card…. Can we discuss our dies that seem to be expanding … lol… Really a pretty card and I loved the flowers… I’ve got to hurry up and get on the ball to make some this year… Or what the heck, I can try it next year… lol
Ok, I’m a slacker. I don’t cook. My hubby does the majority of the cooking so I’m a canned cranberries kinda gal… lol.
I hope you & your Mr have a wonderful Thanksgiving
I always make fresh cranberry sauce! Can’t be Thanksgiving without it! I also buy a can of the wiggly, jiggly stuff for those that insist! LLL!
Love your card! I really love seeing designer paper!! I have so much that is so pretty and just can’t seem to pull it into a card! Happy Thanksgiving!!
You always amaze me, Kittie! I love your window card–every detail! Just the 2 of us & we just do turkey & canned cranberry sauce–& dessert!! Happy Thanksgiving & thanks for a chance at the ribbon giveaway!
What an utterly gorgeous card! I so love it! Keep them coming! I have to say, we used canned cranberries!
Thanks for the instructions on this gorgeous card, Kittie…it’s stunning!
I use canned cranberries. Hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner and thanks for the chance to win Ellen’s ribbon!
I use fresh cranberries
Susie Beighle
I use both.. I prefer the homemade fresh cranberry sauce (the leftovers are my snack at night–my mouth is watering now ) but my husband likes the jelled cranberry sauce.
Your window cards are so nice…I bought a window die a few years back because of you and even told Ellen when I placed my order. I always look forward to your posts.
Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours……..
This is so gorgeous Kittie, I love your window cards. I’ll be traveling to my Mom’s sister’s house in Crystal River for Thanksgiving. There’ a huge crowd as she’s the eldest of 7. Everyone chips in and brings a dish. I always take pork tenderloin and black beans and rice. I’m sure cranberry relish will be there, but since I don’t care for it, I don’t eat it. More than likely there will be fresh and canned cranberries. Sending holiday Hugs!!!
Just recently “found” you on line. I just love your cards and have watched several of your tutorials (very helpful). I’m not a big cranberry fan, but will eat fresh over canned. I’m fortunate enough to be a “visitor” at other people’s houses for Thanksgiving and almost everyone serves canned cranberries.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Fresh. My husband won’t eat the canned ones.
Lovely card, Kittie! As for cranberry choices, I use and like both, but mainly the canned kind. This year, however, it’s fresh cranberries with ginger and orange to make a yummy relish. Happy Thanksgiving!!
We dont have much of a choice here as i only find them in a jar. And i love it on turkey and chicken alike. You can enjoy it over thanks giving but i will be enjoying cranberry sauce @ christmas time here in australia. And not to forget, i always love your cards kittie as you put soo much time and effort into each one. I look forward to checking out your site every other day to see the next surprise card u come up with. Have a lovely thanksgiving…..net
Beautiful window -the paper background is so very pretty !! Thanks for a chance to win some ribbon (can always be used to give an added touch). I have to say, we do not have cranberry lovers in our family, but one of us always has canned cranberries !!
