Good Saturday morning. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge. The inspiration site provided was a Pinterest site filled with wonderful Christmas inspiration. I was inspired by a rustic centerpiece made with a birch log, pinecone, evergreen branches and ornaments. I created an old-fashioned Christmas wreath using evergreen branches , tiny pinecones and a gingham bow and then double framed it with woodgrain embossed cardstock to mimic the log, I used the Martha Stewart Branch Punch to create the wreath and paired it with pinecones made using the Impression Obsession Spiral Flowers die set. The frames were cut using the My Favorite Things Pierced Square Frames and Essentials by Ellen White Woodgrain Embossed cardstock.
I cut a small one inch circle ring and attached evergreen branches with glossy accents all the way around to create my wreath. Check out my Evergreen Wreath Video Tutorial along with step by step pictures over at Splitcoaststampers if you would like to see how I make my wreaths. The wreath I made for the tutorial was a bit larger than the one I made today but the steps are the same no matter what size you want to make.
I cut several spiral flowers using kraft cardstock and applied vintage photo ink with a mini applicator. I rolled the flowers in more of a cone shape than I would for a flower and secured them closed with glossy accents. I attached my multi loop gingham bow with glue dots and then attached the pinecones around it with glossy accents.
I cut the frames out of the woodgrain embossed cardstock and then applied ink direct to paper with a pumice stone ink pad. The ink pad hit the embossed portion of the cardstock but still allowed the white woodgrain background to show. I love the contrast. I attached the frames to the card base with thin strips of mounting tape. I applied pieces of mounting tape to the back of the wreath so when attached it would sit as high as the frames.
I love making holiday projects that reminds me of holidays past when Christmas decorations were made simply by using evergreen, pinecones and ribbon. Thanks for coming by today and I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
