Dare To Get Dirty 2016 Day Two

Good Sunday morning.  Today is day two of the Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty week long challenge event. This event is a special thank you to all of the fan club members who support the site all year long. This special week of challenges will give you tons of opportunity to be inspired and to show off your wonderful and creative projects right along with the current Dirty Dozen team as well as the Alumni team members.  Are you a member of the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club? If not go here to check out all the benefits and how to become a member. If you are a member hop right on over the special challenge forum here.

My project today was made using the Impression Obsession Sea Birds, Shore Birds, Tall Grass, Beach Fence and My Favorite Things Rectangle Frames.  I framed and layered the scene in all white to add dimension and  created the beach scene on a small scale to put most of the emphasis on the large bird.  I love how the colors of the scene pop against the white.

I sponged the sandy area using Antique Linen ink and ink blending tool and masked off the sky line and sponged in the water using Tumbled Glass ink.  I removed the mask and lightly sponged in the sky area using my retired Stampin” Up! cloud template. I heat set the inks on the scene and applied Cosmic Glitter Glue and Cool diamond glitter to the sand area and set aside to dry.  I misted a little water on the fence sections and swiped the Vintage Photo ink pad directly on them to apply the ink. The light misting allows the ink pad to flow easily to apply the ink.  I applied the white embossing paste with a small palette to create the sea foam.  You can see a few pictures of how I apply the embossing paste in my Relaxing by the Deep Blue Sea post.  I used a mini applicator to apply Pumice Stone ink to the birds and a Spiced Marmalade marker to color the legs and beak of the crane.

I applied mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached the small scene layer. I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the scene and attached it to the larger white layer.  I added one more element of dimension by attaching the layered frame to the card base with mounting tape. I tucked the frame and grass sections inside the frame and attached with glossy accents.  I trimmed the feet of the crane off a little to shorten the legs to fit better in the scene and attached him with mounting tape.  The two small gulls were attached in the sky and on the frame for the finishing touch.
