Good Saturday morning. Before I start talking about my project I want to direct you to my Anniversary post if you would like to qualify for a Susan Tierney Cockburn flower die sets and embossing folders by Sizzix. Three winners will be announced on my blog post tomorrow morning. You will have until 5:00 pm this evening to leave a comment to qualify. Good luck.
My project today is a framed Christmas Tree card made using the tree die from the new Essentials by Ellen Homespun Holiday Die Set framed by the Impression Obsession All-in-One Frames Rectangles 2. I layered the tree on Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Christmas designer paper. I love the country feel of the all red and green tree with the plaid paper.
I cut two tree sections and the bottom section of the tree in red. I offset the two tree sections and attached them together with mounting tape. I applied red Wink of Stella to the red tree base and attached it to the tree with mounting tape. I wound red organdy ribbon through the limbs of the tree and secured in place with mini glue dots as I worked up the tree. I tied a multi loop bow for the top and finished the base of the tree with a tiny single loop bow. I applied red Wink of Stella to a piece of red cardstock to add a bit of sparkle and then I punched out 1/4” and 1/8” circles to use ornaments. I lightly formed the larger ones with my styles and molding pad and attached them to the tree with glossy accents. I filled in all around the larger ornaments with the smaller ornaments and attached with glossy accents.
I attached the frame to the card base with mounting tape. I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the tree and a piece to the tree base and attached to the card base. I thought of adding a sentiment somewhere on the card but finally decided the tree and frame were enough.
Here’s a closer view of the tree so you can see the two tree layers.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a great weekend.
Card size: 5.50” x 4.25”
