Good Wednesday morning. Nine years ago today I published My First Blog Post and I can hardly believe how fast time has gone by. I have had the privilege of making lots of friends through folks who follow my blog and it means so much to me. I want to celebrate this anniversary and show my gratitude by giving away some blog candy. Scroll down to the bottom of my post for all the details.
Before I start my post I thought it would be fun to share some of the blog banners I have created and used over the years. Creating scenes on my projects has been a passion of mine and that love was displayed in my banners. Most of the scenes below were made using images from my Kittie Kits scenery sets produced and sold by Dave Miller at Rubbernecker Stamps. These sets are still being sold today. I loved changing my banners from the original peaceful tree and water scene to fall and winter themes during the holiday season. Snow themes have always been my favorite. My love of scenes has transitioned over the years from stamping scenes to dimensional die cut scenes and flower projects. It has been fun for me to look back over the years and seeing some wonderful projects and some not so wonderful. LOL!
My project today was made using the newly released Essentials by Ellen Leaping Deer paired with the Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Cutting Plate and framed using the Nesting Card Templates. I embellished the deer’s neck with glitter covered evergreen branches using the Branch Punch.
I attached the birch tree piece to the back of the frame using double stick tape. Next I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and a few key places on the tree trunks and attached to the card base.
I cut the tips off of a few evergreen branches and applied Cosmic glitter glue and clear glitter and allowed them to dry. I attached the branches to the neck of the deer using glossy accents and then attached the deer to the trees using doubled up sections of mounting tape. This was a very fast and easy card to make and would be perfect to mass produce for holiday cards. I love the whimsical shape of Julie’s deer.
Now for the blog candy. I have several of Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s flower die sets and embossing folder sets produced by Sizzix that I want to share with you. I will randomly draw three winners who will receive a few die sets and an embossing folder set. All you need to do to is leave a comment on this blog post telling me how long you have been paper crafting and post a link to your blog if you don’t mind sharing (not required). You will have until 5:00 pm EST on Saturday, Nov 12th to comment. The winners will be announced on my Sunday morning post. Good luck!!
PS….Ellen Hutson has a 15% off sale on Taylored Expressions product this week. If you love this Birch Tree Cutting Plate this would be a great time to check out the sale.
I have been papercrafting 16 years. I started with scrapbooking but moved to card making. I enjoy making cards. I send them to senior citizens groups. It so much fun.
Congratulations on the anniversary! Yours was the first blog I ever followed and I love the Kittie kits, even though I paid a fortune in duty when they were posted to me in the UK lol!
Congratulations on your special anniversary, you are my favorite paper crafting blogger. The true Empress of delicate & exquisite cards. I have been paper crafting for 12 years, just added card making to my scrapbooking so I have quite a pile of rejects so far. I had no idea there was such a steep learning curve.
I always look for your post each day….never a disappointment..Congrats on nine years of making so many crafters happy with your blog.
Congratulations on your 9th year of blogging.
Wishing you many more years and looking forward to each and everyone of them.
How wonderful to have all those banners to chronicle your happy life as a paper crafter! I love all your scenes and projects, and have been inspired by your work. I have been paper crafting for almost 16 years. At the beginning, because I was still working, I only seemed to collect ideas and supplies. When I retired, it was as if there was a surge in my fun factor and I entered my retired life–my fourth life and began paper crafting in earnest. Come and follow me at http://afourthlife.blogspot.com and see some of the cards I have created. Thanks so much for a chance to win! kReN@afourthlife
Congratulations on 9 years! Your banners are lovely and so is your deer card! I have been paper crafting for 8 years and enjoy making scrapbooks and cards for others. I don’t have a blog. Keep creating Kittie, all of us are very grateful that you share your creations!
Congrats on 9 years of providing true inspiration to all of us.I have been scrapbooking for 15 years and card making within a few years after that. I have been following your blog for quite some time. You are always with me when I have my morning coffee.
Congratulations on 9 years! I have really liked arts and crafts since I was in grade school; as for papercrafting, I have been making cards for 15+ years. I do not have a blog; however, I enjoy yours so much.
Thank you for all of the inspiration you give to us every week! I’ve been a paper crafter for about 30 years but for the last 7-8 I’ve loved making cards and mini albums. My blog is Carole Lee’s Creative Corner but its not totally up and going.
Thank you for a chance to win!

I haven’t known you long enough to see some of your older blog headings, but love each of them. I like the cut out shapes and use them too, but still love the stamp and color cards that I mostly make. And I really like yours and get lots of ideas from them. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your prizes. Edna Burgess

Kittie, congrats on your 9th year anniversary. I have been crafting for 40+ years, I need cards. I believe I have followed you from the beginning. I love your cards, I love the intimate small details that you put on your cards. Thanks so much for the opportunity to enjoy your blogs every day, hope for many many more years of awesomeness. Congratulations again!
I have been paper crafting for over 50 yrs. Now sharing with my grandkids.
Congratulations Kittie!…and thank you for many years of providing endless inspiration!
I wil be showing my age now, if I tell you about how many years I have been paper crafting 😉
I’ll say….55….yes, 55 years.
I have loved creating things with beautiful paper since childhood…as a little girl…pre-school age… I would save pretty pieces of paper..cardboard…or greeting cards …and use them to create mini books…new greeting cards..and little things like jewelry, dioramas…clothing and accessories for my Barbie dolls…(YES!..paper dress..hats…). I loved creating scrapbooks …
My grandma taught me to sew..and often..if she didn’t have scars of fabric for me to create things with…I would see, using pretty paper…Or I would draw on and color brown supermarket bags…and create little purses and things like pillow cases for my dolls..using the brown paper bags that I had drawn on and colored. (I discovered that is your rumpled up the paper bag for a while..it would get ver soft..like bris..almost like suede…which was great for sewing!)
What great memories for me!…Thanks for getting me to think about this…
Then..about 20 years ago…while enjoying scrapbooking…I discovered card making…..and knew that I had found my true paper-crafting love…
It has been “all about” card making for me for a little more than 20 years now….
A passion that brings me creative joy…in countless ways.
My blog info is: http://www.bellissimcards.blogspot.com
Thank you again for all of the wonderful inspiration that you offer here, via your blog…
and…Happy Anniversary!
Michelle
Congrats on nine years of wonderful blogging. I do so enjoy your intricate work and always appreciate the great tutorials you do. I’ve been making cards for about 15 years, but don’t have a blog. I’m more of a quick and easy card maker, but on occasion have tried to make detailed wreaths following your instructions. Thanks for all the great inspiration.
Congratulations Kittie on your 9 years of blogging
Time does fly when your having fun

Congrats on 9 years of your wonderful blog Kittie! You’ve inspired so many people throughout these years! I’ve been stamping for about 12 years now and look forward to many more. Thank you for introducing new products used in creative ways!
Congratulations for the nine years. I have been card making for eleven years. I try to make time each day to make a card.
I love your blog and have your stamps which I use often. Love how you show new dies and stamps and the unique way to use them. Please continue your wonderful blog.
Vicki
What a fun look through all of your banners! I love your cards. I’ve learned and been inspired so much by you. TFS and always inspiring! Happy blogiversary! Big hugs, Kristina (www.craftypaws.us)
Oh forgot to mention I’ve been seriously papercrafting just about 3 years.
Thank you for sharing your inspirational creativity throughout these years! I have been paper crafting since childhood and continue to be challenged to new levels by wonderful artists like you! Thank you!
Happy Anniversary!! You have given such great inspiration to so many people over the years and I know I have shared your blog a few times to let people know where I get some of my inspiration from 🙂 The card is so cool, I have that cutting plate but haven’t used it nearly enough. I would love to make my own headers for my blog but not sure how to go about it, guess I need to look into that.
I have been cardmaking for over 20 years now, I started off by using Print Shop on my computer to make cards until I was invited to a stampin up show and that totally changed things for me. I have only had my blog for 5 years though.
Here is too many more years 🙂
Hello, I’ve been stamping and creating cards for several years. I found your site one day and have been following ever since. You’ve inspired me to get more detailed in my cards. Thanks
Congratulations on 9 years of blogging! I have been a papercrafter since I was old enough to know what paper was! I don’t have an active blog but I started creating things out of paper around 27-30 years ago. Just having paper and scissors in my hands relaxes me and leaves me feeling refreshed! There is no better feeling than cutting into a piece of paper to start a new project! Once completed their is a feeling of total satisfaction! TFS
LOVE ALL OF IT!! And I’m proud to say that I have been following you for a few years now! 🙂
Congratulations on your successful 9 years of blogging! I’ve been paper crafting since I was a child. Not sure how old I was but my grandmother taught me to make rolled beads from strips of paper from the comic section and then turn them into bracelets. Since then I have loved any kind of crafts and had fun working together with my daughters & now looking forward to teaching my granddaughter as soon as she is bigger!
I Love your blog postings!! They always give me so much inspiration and puts a smile on my face!! I started scrapbooking back in 1986 then about 3 1/2 years ago I discovered your blog with all your beautiful cards and decided that I wanted to try that too. I’m still making cards today along with mini albums!! http://breisstatringaknewcraft.blogspot.com/
Morning Kittie…..
First of all, congratulations on the 9 years of blogging. I’m will to bet that your first card is just as beautiful as the card today.
I’ve been following your blog for 5 or 6 years….and I have a self full of dies to prove it….lol. I’m looking forward to another 9 years of ideas (& buying dies…)
Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity with all of us and for sharing some blog candy.
Hi Kittie!
Congratulations to your blog-anniversary.
I’ve started papercrafting in 2008 after the birth of my youngest daughter. Looking for inspiration, I found your wonderful blog. Many of my craft-shoppings I did after reading your posts 😉
I have followed SCS for many years now and am always in AWE when I see your beautiful creations. U amaze me daily with your creativity. I cannot remember how long I have been cardmaking.. scrapbooking has fallen off to side and behind since my son is 15 now.. Ha. I will never get caught up. I make cards monthly for widows, people with terminal illness/etc that are friends or acquaintances – 20 in all. It would take me 5 years to try and recreate even a tiny portion of what you do in one. Thanks for sharing your talents…
Happy 9th anniversary. I always look forward to your emails announcing your new blog post. I truly admire your card making style, whether it be with stamping or die cutting. Thank you for sharing your talent and for inspiring us all these years, and I look forward to many more emails from you in the future. Congratulations! –Judy
Happy Bloggerversary! I have been papercrafting for about 12 or 13 years and blogging for 8 1/2 years. Here is my blog link:
http://craftingwithprincesslisa.blogspot.com/
Kittie you are amazing!! I love seeing all your cards. What you can do with the all the dies. How you bring them together to make beautiful scenes!! Big THANKS!!
I have been paper crafting since 1990. I have been following your blog for many many years. You are the first blog that interested me with all your fancy cards. Everywhere I went your name and work would pop up. I so enjoy your work. Thank you.
Here’s to many, many more years of inspiring us with your creativity! Yours is one of two blogs that I use when introducing someone to paper crafting! I love to watch the “mind blown” moments when they see what can be created. As for me, I’ve always had some sort of papers, markers and glitter in my possession, since I can remember – so let’s say at least 40 years. Happy Anniversary!
Hmmmm should I mention kindergarten crafting with construction paper? I think as an adult, I have been paper crafting about 35 years. Love your beautiful projects. They are so inspirational!
Congrats on your blogging anniversary!! I’ve been papercrafting for 7 years and found your blog about a year ago. I love your creations and thank you so much for sharing. Here’s to many more years of crafting!
Congratulations on your 9 years of blogging.I have been papercrafting for over 16 years now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. I still love it just as much today as I did the day I started. Although I’ve gotten much better over the years. I love getting your posts and seeing the beautiful cards you make. Here’s to many many more years of fun.
I love your posts and projects! I have been paper crafting since 2002. I do not have a blog, but I love following yours.
Take two, on commenting. I have been paper crafting, off and on (mostly off) for about 15 or 20 years. I don’t have a blog, but I love reading yours. Your recent posts have inspired me to dust off my die-cutter and to make some cat-centric cards for this Christmas.
Congrats on the nine year anniversary — it’s big.
I have been paper crafting for 10 years. A mixture of scrapbooking and card making, also any other papercraft I can find to engage my 3 grandchildren in. Your blog is a real inspiration.
I have been papercrafting about 20 years now and still love it. Your cards are total inspiration, love them.
Congratulations Kittie, I have been crafting for about 20yrs, my English friend got me into it. Mainly card making these days, these I pass on to the Hospice to either sell to raise funds or just to give to their patients while in their care.
I look forward to seeing your daily blog every day.
Congratulations on your anniversary!! I have been making cards for 6 years and started my blog in March 2013. I enjoy your blog and look forward to seeing what you’ve created!
Brenda
I have been papercrafting for 11 years. I started scrapbooking and now I mainly make cards. My craft room always looks like a tornado went through it! I am too busy creating new cards to stop and clean..lol. You inspire me with all your lovely cards. I always want the new dies that come along! I have collected several dies and embossing folders and machines along the way. One can never have too many “toys” to create with!!
Funny you asked us to tell how long we’ve been papercrafting. I was trying to figure it when you said your blog was nine years old. I have been subscribed to your blog longer than any other blog I have subscribed to. Others have come and gone, but I could never unsubscribe from your blog. I wish I knew the exact year I started making cards. I know the first cards I made were Valentine’s Day cards. And it was probably 9 or 10 years ago… maybe even 11 years ago. I wish I could share a link to my blog. I’ve wanted to start a blog, but just can’t seem to get the courage to do it.
Congratulations on 9 years of blogging!! I always enjoy your wonderful cards and also enjoy it when you share pictures of your cats!! 🙂
Hi Kittie,
I have been crafting for more than 15 years and from the moment that I laid eyes on your STUNNING work I have been captivated ever since! It was fun seeing the different scenes you have made over time :o)
Your Deer Card is wonderful – love it in the pastel blue.
Congratulations ! Not sure how long I have been paper crafting-I think about 10 years or so. I love following your blog you make the most beautiful cards I have seen. My daughter and I craft together sometimes and she keeps me well supplied in addition to what I buy. I need to use my supplies more but every time you turn around there is something new to try. I look forward to following your blog well into the future.
Congratulations on your 9 year anniversary! I love your blog and your beautiful art work!
Wishes for many more years of creations. You are such an inspiration!

Yes, yes, congratulations on 9 years, Kittie! I so enjoy your blog and the inspiration you provide. I bought my first stamp in 1989(a loon) when we moved to Minnesota. I have been stamping, scrapbooking, cutting, pasting, folding, embossing, and embellishing paper ever since! It’s all an evolving process and it never seems to get old. We look forward to evolving with you!
Best wishes for being such a successful paper crafter, creator and blogger. I have followed your blog almost daily for 7 years. I have been crafting since I was very young, inspired by a talented mother. In my 30’s I owned a yarn store and for 10 years practised all of the yarn crafts including knitting, weaving, spinning, crochet and needlepoint. Ten years ago when I retired I began scrapbooking my travels. This lead to digital scrapbooking and card making and through Stampin’ Up to card making. Your blog changed my card making and the scenes I learned to create from yours made my cards popular. I now make and sell cards to 3 retail stores. This hobby was a huge help to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 & it pulled me through the aftermath of my mastectomy. I have not looked back since then & continue to spend 4 days a week making cards. Thank you for your inspiration.
Congrats! I have been scrapbooking since 1999 and paper crafting much longer than that. Your blog is very inspiring and you do such amazing work. I look forward in seeing your creations in your emails. (I do not have a blog though). Keep on creating!
Congratulations on your 9 year anniversary!!
I have been Cardmaking for 10 years now and I love reading your blog.
Love seeing your amazing ideas everyday. With wonderful information and instruction with pictures. Congratulations and thank you for your lovely ideas!
Dawn
Hi Kittie,
Many congratulations on your 9th Anniversary. I have to look at yours and Sue Wilsons blog first thing every morning. I love to see the little scenes you make, it gives me inspiration to have a go myself, especially when I may sit there on one of those “blank mind” days and also to order some of the dies that I so need…. I have been following your blog for about 4 out of your 9 years. So, keep up the good work Kittie. Appreciated by me and many others.
Congratulations on your blog anniversary! I’ve been following you for several years and have learned so much from you. I, like you, love to build scenes using dies. I have been making cards for over ten years but have really been paper crafting since I was a young child– and that’s a long time.
Wow 9 years… Thats along time
I bet the fun part is seeing and using all these amazing products
Your my #1 blogger, i ? that you take time and explain how you created your beautiful creations!

I started making cards about 2 years ago not long after I signed up for Pinterest and started seeing the wonderful things other people were making. Some time later, I found your blog and have been following you with great interest. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and inspiring creations and congratulations on your anniversary!
I have been a fan for years! Two of my Christmas card designs this year are inspired by you. Congratulations on your anniversary and thank you for sharing your fabulous talent and creations!
Hi, wow 9 years of bloggin, congrats. I think I have followed you for close to that long! It has been a fun journey. I have been papercrafting for about 20 years, but not with the frequency that I would like. Thanks for the chance to win and here’s to 9 more years of creative inspiration!!
Happy paper crafting anniversary! I have been paper crafting since 2005 (LOTS of other crafting going on for years before!). I discovered your blog 6 or so years ago and have been happily following since. I don’t have my own blog…one more thing to do.
Congratulations! I started paper crafting in 1995. A co-worker handed out hand stamped Christmas cards and I asked her how she made her card and I was hooked. I love coming to your blog and seeing how you use die cuts to make a scene. Thank you for the chance to win some blog candy. I don’t have a blog, but have been thinking about starting one.
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary! You have inspired thousands of crafters over the years, including me! I started crafting years ago, especially when my kids were born. I would have to say I’ve been doing some type of craft for at least 20 years. My next goal is to start a blog, and I would be honored if you visited when I do.
Oh goodness…I have been crafting for ever but serious card making about 5 years. Thanks for your talent and sharing it with us.
Congratulations Kittie! I’ve been card making for over 4 years and having such a blast the whole time. You’re flower cards got me started and the rest is history. I sell them in my sisters flower shop and it’s so fun to hear the wonderful comments people make about them. Thank you for the many years of inspiration!
Congratulations Kitty! I started scrapbooking about 6 years ago and then moved into card making. I first found you on Splitcoast where I was in awe of the way you created such detailed designs with the smallest little die cuts. I still gape when I see your creations. You can find me at http://iwannabuildamemory.blogspot.com. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talent with us!
I have been paper crafting for about 4-5 years. I was first introduced to this wonderful world of card-making when a collegue took me to my first SU class. Since then, I have explored many of the amazing crafter’s blogs, (of course, yours being one of them), and learned so much about technique and product. I never stop learning and I am always amazed at all that you create. My first project that I “copied” from you was the layered hydrangea which I created for a mother’s day card. I love your work and enjoy seeing all your amazing ideas! Thank you for the inspiration!
Hello Kittie,

I’ve been papercrafting for about 10 years, always card making but a few 3D projects here and there. There is always something new for us card makers so it never gets boring and, believe me when I say, your blog has not only motivated me to step up my game but also to spend more than a few dollars on items what you’ve used. Congrats on 9 years of wonderful and inspirational blogging!

Happy “9” years. I have been paper crafting for over 20yrs and still don’t have a blog. Thank you for all the wonderful inspiration you have provided throughout the years. I know I can always count on you for great ideas. Looking forward to the many years ahead.
Congrats on your 9th anniversary. I’ve been crafting my entire life. I got into card-making with the purchase of my first rubber stamp back in the early 80’s. One stamp turned into two, and then another and got totally out of hand in no time. LOL Your creations are stunning. Thanks for all the years of inspiration.
Congratulation on your blig anniversary! I have been papercrafting for about 15 years. You are a huge inspiration!Thank you so much! Right now I am about to start my own little internet shop and a new blog for selling papercraft ?

Kittie- Big Congrats on your anniversary!! I always enjoy your creations on SCS…they’re fabulous!! I’ve been stamping more than 20 years. When I first started I didn’t have a heat gun but used my electric burner to emboss….that didn’t always turn out the best…lol. I look forward to many more years of your creativity.
Polly aka peeps321
Love you and your projects – so inspirational!
Hi Kittie,
I began scrapbooking about 10 years ago but now I am an avid card maker, I have cased a lot of your cards, they tell a story, you can almost jump right into them.
Thanks from Australia.

I have tried to leave you a comment but could not figure out how. The pist would not let me.
I have been paper crafting for about 8 to 10 years. Can’t remember when I first started to. Just seemed lije the natural next step in my crafting. I do not have a blog. Just love to create. I found your blog a few years ago and love seeing all your creations.
