Penny Black Birdhouse Abode

Good Monday morning.  I love making cards with birdhouse scenes and my project today was made with the Penny Black Birdhouse Abode die paired with the Impression Obsession Picket Fence, Grass Border, Tiny Flowers, Foliage and Cardinals.  The matted frames were made using the Nesting Rectangles.

I cut the whole birdhouse die out once in green and then cut just the house portion out in red and again in Kraft cardstock.  I cut a thin strip of Kraft cardstock just the width of the wooden pole, applied vintage photo ink with a mini applicator and attached over the green base pole with double stick tape. Next I trimmed the Kraft birdhouse, applied the vintage photo ink and attached it over the green birdhouse base with mounting tape.  I cut the roof section off the red birdhouse and attached it to the birdhouse with glossy accents.  I cut a thin strip of red cardstock and attached it to the base of the birdhouse and attached it with glossy accents.

I cut the red and green frames and attached them together with double stick tape. I used the smallest rectangle die to cut the rectangle opening in the card base to create a see thru window for the birdhouse. I applied double stick tape to the front of the birdhouse frame and attached it to the inside opening of the window. I cut a single green frame and attached it over the back of the birdhouse on the inside of the card base to finish the opening.  I cut a section of fence using Kraft cardstock and applied vintage photo ink by swiping the ink pad directly over it. I used a waterbrush to spread the ink more evenly but still allowed some of the darker spots of ink show off the wood grain of the fence.

I attached the fence and grass sections to the card base using double stick tape.  I attached the grass border all the way across the birdhouse opening.  I applied double stick tape to the back of the double matted frame attached it to the opening.  I cut small pieces of foliage and tucked it in behind the grass and attached with glossy accents.  I attached a few formed tiny flowers to the foliage and roof of the birdhouse with glossy accents.  I applied small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the cardinals and placed them in the scene to finish. I thought the birdhouse scene looked so cute with the red gingham background.
