Framed Joy and Blog Candy

Good Monday morning.  I have a clean and simple holiday card to share with you today made using the newly released Impression Obsession Joy Frame paired with evergreen sprigs from the Wreath Builder set.  The green frame was made using a die from the Classic Square Nestabilities.  I love the simplicity of this open frame with the die cut joy sentiment.

I started by cutting a piece of red 4.50” square cardstock, placed it on the cutting platform, lined the frame die over it and ran it through my Big Shot.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape on the back of the frame and attached to the white card base.  I cut a piece of green cardstock 4.25” square and cut the frame opening using a square die.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it over the top of the red frame.

I applied pieces of mounting tape to the back of the ornament, tucked the hanger portion under the frame and attached it to the card base.I trimmed several pieces of green foliage to different sizes and attached them to the ornament.  I finished by attaching several 1/8” punched circles to the foliage with glossy accents and added sparkle with red stickles.

It’s hard to believe it is already October and only a short time left to make holiday cards.  This was such a fast and easy project to make and would be a perfect card to mass produce.  The card actually looked totally complete without the green frame but I added it just to bring another element of green.  I think this would look really great layered over a pretty holiday designer paper with a fairly simple pattern.  The ornament is a separate die so you have a choice of using it or not.  I think the Joy open frame would be pretty framing a snowy scene in the background.

Do you love ordering your product from Ellen Hutson?  I sure do!  She always includes one yard of beautiful May Arts ribbon and a cute colored image and Thank You sentiment with each order.   I like to store mine up until I have at least a dozen and give them away as a blog candy thank you offering to those who follow my blog.  I love sharing on my blog and it makes me so happy to think I may inspire others.  All you need to do to qualify for my blog candy is leave a comment “on this post” and tell me if you mass produce one design for your holiday cards or if you send one of a kind to each of your recipients.  You’ll have until 5:00 pm Thursday, October 5th to comment and I’ll announce the winner on  my Friday post.  PS……Don’t tell Bob that I’ve placed a dozen orders from Ellen in a short period of time.  Since I’m retired now I’m always here to get the mail and I just add my new products to my stash and he never really knows the difference.  LOL!  Truthfully he never cares how many orders I place.  He knows how much paper crafting means to me.  He’s my biggest fan!!!!!

I appreciate you coming by today and hope you have a great week.

  2. What a beautiful card! I make each card separate as I don’t send too many out. I find I get bored when I make the same design over & over. And I won’t tell if you won’t tell 🙂

  3. LOL My hubby is the same way! Aren’t our husbands SO GOOD???? We are SO BLESSED!!!! 😉 Your card looks GREAT, Kittie! I can see it too with the printed papers! AND if that ornament is separate, like you’ve said, then it would look GREAT as a TAG too! 😉
To answer your question: I make my cards all at one time & make them all the same! I worry that in the years to come, I would send a duplicate to the same recipient! LOL So, that is why I do them all the same, of course, changing the card itself each year. 😉

  4. I send the same card to everyone since I can’t remember from year to year who got what card. My husband, children and grandchildren usually get a special card.

  6. Your card is beautiful, Kittie! I enjoy your CAS cards as well as your gorgeous scene cards, and it’s never too early to get the holiday cards made. In fact, I start in January and try to make a couple each month. I tend not to mass-produce my cards as I enjoy making each card unique and one-of-a-kind. I’m excited about your giveaway – thank you! And thank you so much for always inspiring!

  7. I am a sometime mass producer if it’s a clean and simple design…..but I mostly make one of kind……friends generally get the mass-produced ones and family get the one of a kind.
Kitty, you have inspired me over the years with all your creativity. Your name often comes up on Wednesday evenings with my group of girls (we call ourselves the Paperdolls) who are card makers and scrapbookers.
Keep the inspiration coming, I love it!

  13. Yes, I love the ribbons for EH too. To answer your ?, I do all one of the kind Christmas/Holiday cards. Can’t make myself do multiples; think it would be boring. My daughter (using my supplies) made multiples one year and used up all my Real Red! LOL

  15. Really pretty card…so crisp and clean. Love it.
I have never mass produced cards, although this year may change things due to time and other issues. However, I would still make each one slightly different even if were just changing a color, a ribbon, positioning of embellishments or DSP. I’ve just always wanted each card to be unique in some way.

  20. Hi Kittie,
I love the elegant simplicity of today’s wonderful card and the traditional Christmas colors. So pretty!!
I usually send a lot of Christmas cards between family, friends and church. I usually make 10-15 each of several designs. I don’t get bored making so many of one design and get to use several fun stamp sets.
I too am blessed to have a husband who doesn’t keep tabs on what I buy. ?
    Blessings, Jan
