I made this clean and simple die cut tropical palm trees scene card for the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Tropical Paradise Challenge. This little card is only 4.00″ square. I would normally have used a frame for a scene like this but I wanted to stay true to the challenge.
The Water Sky Background
I attached a piece of Eclipse tape to a piece of scrap cardstock, punched a circle and then separated the tape from the cardstock. I attached the negative circle piece of tape to the sky area to the card base and applied yellow ink using a stylus and foam tip to create the sun. Next I used the circle tape piece to cover up the yellow sun to create a mask and applied the blue ink to the sky and water area using a stylus and foam tip.
Coloring Tropical Palm Trees, Hammock and Sand
I used brown and green Copic markers to color the palm trees and a teal Copic marker to color the hammock. I applied tan ink to the sandy beach layer of the die using a stylus and foam tip.
Completing the Die Cut Tropical Palm Trees
I applied strips of mounting tape to the back of the sand portion of the die, thin strips to the back of the palm trees and attached the scene to the card base.
I would like to be laying in the hammock. I had a great time making this die cut tropical palm trees scene but had to discipline myself not to add lots of extra like grasses, sea foam and sea oats.

Kittie,
What a soothing card. I can imagine being on an island, the birds are calling and I’m taking a nap…lol. Thank you for sharing your amazing creativity
I love all of the new ideas!
