Why not make a snowman card in non traditional colors?
I am a Splitcoast Stampers member and when I saw this color challenge I thought I would make a snowman card using them. As non traditional as they are for this kind of card, I think this came out SO CUTE and I think it makes the perfect handmade winter greeting for anyone of the female persuasion. Plus I love the cool shades for the trees. This is such a modern twist on a classic winter motif and it all just works!
Card Base and Stencil Background
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and a white 6″ x 6″ layer for stenciling. Pro Tip: I find it much easier to work with a piece of cardstock the same size as the stencil so it can be secured well all the way around.
- Secure the Birch stencil number 1 and cardstock using masking tape.
- Apply blue ink to the cardstock using a domed blending tool.
- Remove stencil 1 and secure stencil 2 in place with tape.
- Apply light gray ink to the tree markings using a domed blending tool.
- Use white cardstock to cut the Birch Forest Cover, apply soft touches of gray ink to the tree markings using a mini applicator.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the birch cover, trim the stenciled layer to fit behind the cover and attach them together.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the stencil and cover layers and attach them to the card base.
- Use white cardstock to cut one snow layer and attach it to the card front using a strip of mounting tape.
Snowman and Trees
- Cut the snowman body parts using black, white and orange cardstock and accessories using bright pink.
- Attach the body parts and earmuffs and scarf using glossy accents.
- Attach the hat to the snowman head using a piece of mounting tape.
- Tuck the snowman behind the snow layer and attach in place using a piece of mounting tape.
- Cut several greenery sprigs and evergreen tree sprigs using pale aqua and pale teal cardstock.
- Crimp the trees using a straight crimper. and attach them together using pieces of mounting tape.
- Attach the trees around the snowman and attach in place using pieces of mounting tape.
- Tuck the greenery sections in behind the snow layers and attach using glossy accents.
- Finish by adding tiny greenery prigs and pink punched circles to the snowman’s scarf.

What do you think? Does this inspire you to make a snowman card using these or any other interesting colors that are not necessarily “snowman” or winter colors? I am tickled pink – see what I did there?
so pretty, love that combo, I am enjoying the more untraditional colors here lately!
Love your pretty snowman card! I love pink and soft pastel colours so this is perfect. I like how you have arranged all the layers.
