A Charming Card With a Die Cut Wishing Well

Come see how to make this card with a die cut wishing well – it’s so realistic you might be tempted to throw in a penny!

I just love making outdoor scenes on my cards and the more realistic I can make them, for me, the more fun it is. Today’s card with a die cut wishing well and a tree just losing its leaves gives me all the Fall feels. I can practically smell apples and the leaves and a hint of wood smoke….

I did use a lot of dies on this card and as you build your stash, you too will start mixing elements from different ones together. I used Rubbernecker’s Deckle Frame, die set to make the tone on tone frame, their detailed Wishing Well die set, their Full Tree and Tiny Leave for my tree, added some landscape with their Classic Tabbed Grass, and used their Old Wooden Cart die set for the foliage along with little blossoms from their Flower Stems and Tiny Flowers #2 die sets.

Card Base and Deckle Frame

  • Use light blue cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the Deckle Frame.
  • Cut two Classic Tabbed Grass sections.
  • Apply double stick tape to the front of one grass section and attach it directly to the back of the frame.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.
  • Attach the second grass section to the front of the frame using a strip of mounting tape.

Fall Tree and Leaves

  • Use kraft cardstock to cut the tree and apply Pecan ink with a wet baby wipe.
  • Heat dry so the leaves will stick well when attached.
  • Cut the Tiny Leaves using light orange, rust, green and dark red cardstock.
  • Place the leaves on the molding pad and gently form them by pushing down in the centers using a leaf tool.
  • Attach the colorful leaves sparsely to the tree branches using glossy accents.  Note:  I like the tree to look like it already lost lots of its leaves.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the tree trunk and branches, tuck it in behind the grass and attach it to the card base.

Die Cut Wishing Well

  • Cut the Wishing Well using white and rust cardstock.
  • Apply a light layer of Mocha ink to the roof section using a wet baby wipe.
  • Use a mini applicator to apply touches of Pecan ink to enhance the depth of color.
  • Use a mini applicator to apply Caramel and Pecan ink to the bucket sections and attach the pieces together using connect glue.
  • Assemble all the well sections together using connect glue.
  • Attach the string for the bucket to the cross bar by rolling up several loops of string and securing it  in place using glossy accents.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the well and roof, tuck it in behind the grass and attach it to the tree and card base.

A close up of the details on a realistic card with a die cut wishing well made using several nature themed dies from Rubbernecker to make the well, the tree and all the bountiful flowers and foliage.

All the Flowers and Foliage

  • Use green cardstock to cut foliage from the Old Wooden Cart and Flower Stems.
  • Tuck the foliage sections in behind the grass and attach using glossy accents.
  • Cut the Tiny Flowers #2 using light orange and dark red cardstock.
  • Place the flowers face up on the molding pad and push down in the centers using a tiny tipped stylus.
  • Attach the flowers to the foliage using glossy accents.
  • Finish by attaching a few falling leaves to the sky area and grass.
