Let your tools do the work on this easy die cut layered Christmas card – make one or make 100!
As much as I love my loaded-with-details cards, I also appreciate the relatively quick and easy project. Today’s easy die cut layered Christmas card comes together so fast, uses a minimal amount of supplies, is a scrap buster and can be done in front of your favorite holiday movie lineup. I made the layers with Rubbernecker’s Fancy Decorative Nested die set, added the decorative details with their Mistletoe and Wreath Set dies and picked my sentiment from their May the Season Clear Set of stamps.
While you can use whatever dies you have for your decorative details, this Fancy Decorative Nested die set, in my opinion, really makes this card. The cutouts around the borders add so much texture and detail that pretty much anything you pop on the card is going to look fantastic. If you are itching to add a die set to your stash, I do recommend this one for its versatility and gorgeous detail.
Let me share the easy steps with you so you can get started!
Card Base and Decorative Die Cut Layers
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the two largest sizes of the Fancy Decorative Nested set.
- Use dark red cardstock to cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ sized layer and attach it to the card base using double stick tape.
- Apply double stick to the back of the largest decorative layer and attach it to the card base.
- Secure the smaller decorative layer and sentiment from the May the Season set in the MISTI and stamp using nocturne ink.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
Die Cut Holly and Mistletoe Arrangement
- Use green cardstock to cut both the Wreath Set Holly sections and Mistletoe sections.
- Cut the mistletoe berries using white cardstock and the holly berries using dark red cardstock.
- Attach the berries to the foliage using glossy accents.
- Arrange and attach the holly and mistletoe branches to the top corner of the sentiment layer and attach using glossy accents.
- Finish by adding a dark red grosgrain single loop bow. Check out my Single Loop Bow and Multi-Loop Bow ribbon tying videos if you would like to see how I tie my bows.
That’s it! So easy and just so pretty! Here are the Rubbernecker items I used to make this card:

And here are all the other items I used from my stash in case you were wondering what something was that I used.
Of course you can change up this idea for an easy die cut layered Christmas card that you can put together in minutes. Consider what other elements you might have in your stash as the decorative details – different foliage, tiny stockings, holiday candies, even tiny gifts. There’s no end to how you can adapt this design, even for other occasions!
Simple and lovely. TFS
I’ve been wanting the Rubbernecker ink cubes for a long time since watching you use them. Well, they went on sale today, and I finally bought the whole set plus the re-inkers! Looking forward to using them!
