Use Poinsettia Cutting Dies For Easy, Realistic Flowers!

Come see how easy it us to make a realistic flower like this one with easy to use poinsettia cutting dies from Rubbernecker!

As I mentioned the other day on this poinsettia Christmas card post. I love using poinsettias on my holiday cards. I love being able to customize the color, the size and volume – how lush the blossom is – using my favorite poinsettia cutting dies from Rubbernecker. I’ve tried many and I keep coming back to this set for the incredible flexibility it gives me in creating my realistic paper flowers. For this card, I created a different style of flower with Rubbernecker’s Buildable Poinsettia die set, added some more holiday themed foliage with their Holly #1 and Greenery #1 dies and set the gorgeous arrangement over a single simple die cut cover made with their Lattice with Scallop Cover.

The steps to make this are very similar to all the other projects I’ve made using this fabulous die set to make these realistic flowers.

The White on White Die Cut Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and Lattice with Scallop Cover.
  • Create a long rope of rolled up double stick tape.

  • Adhere the rope all the way around the back border and to several key spots behind the lattice sections.  Pro Tip:  Place the rope behind several of the lattice sections will keep the center of the lattice from collapsing in on the card base.
  • Attach the cover to the card base.

The Die Cut Poinsettia Arrangement

  • Cut two sections of the Buildable Poinsettia using white cardstock, one section of the leaves using green cardstock and one section of the flower center using yellow cardstock.
  • Apply Color Fuse Scarlet ink to cover all the flower petals using a mini applicator.
  • Use the Color Fuse Crimson ink to apply darker shades to the petals using a mini applicator.
  • Form the petals using a large round stylus and molding pad and attach them together using glossy accents.  Watch my Shaping and Assembling a Poinsettia video to see how I make my poinsettias.
  • Use green and red cardstock to cut the Holly #1 branches and berries and green cardstock to cut the Greenery #1.
  • Attach the berries to the holly branches using glossy accents.
  • Attach the poinsettia to the card front using a generous amount of glossy accents.  Watch my how to Arrange Poinsettia and Holly on a Card Front to see how I create the arrangement.
  • Tuck the green poinsettia leaves, holly branches and greenery under and around the poinsettia and attach using glossy accents.
