Come see why the Rubbernecker poinsettia dies are my absolute favorite for making realistic looking paper flowers for your cards and more!
I have made a lot of poinsettia cards throughout the years. This iconic holiday blossom is the perfect element for so many occasions and being able to make them in a variety of colors, textures and detail levels gives you endless creative opportunities. After many years of using different products, I have found that the Rubbernecker poinsettia dies give me the very best results and now I use them exclusively any time I want to make one of these cheerful decorations.
On today’s card I used their Buildable Poinsettia die set so I could create a blossom that could serve as an accent on an otherwise incredibly fast and easy card. To make the rest of the card, I cut a panel from plain white card stock using Rubbernecker’s Nested Scallop with Half Holes die, stamped it with a greeting from their Christmas Joy Set and set this piece over a card front cut from a pattern from their Snowy Wonder 6×6 Paper Pad. I used a piece from their Wreath Set as a base for my arrangement and tucked in more winter foliage made from their Greenery #3 and Greenery #2 dies.
Let me share the steps with you – I use my standard shaping tips and tricks to add dimension to the die cut poinsettia and other than those, this card is a quickie!
Card Base and Sentiment Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the Nested Scallop with Half Holes.
- Cut a 5.50″x 4.25″ piece of designer paper from the Snowy Wonder 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the designer paper and attach it to the card base.
- Secure the scallop layer and the Christmas Joy sentiment in the MISTI and stamp it using nocturne ink.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the scallop sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
Die Cut Poinsettia Arrangement
- Use red and yellow cardstock to cut the Buildable Poinsettia sections. Note: I used a red cardstock with a glossy finish. You can also use plain red card stock and then use clear embossing powder to add a beautiful sheen like I did with the leaves in this fall-themed card.
- Form the petals using a round stylus and a molding pad.
- Assemble the sections and attach them together using glossy accents.
- Check out my Shaping and Assembling a Poinsettia video to see how I create the poinsettia.
- Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the poinsettia and attach it to the sentiment layer.
- Cut a couple sections each of the Greenery #2, Greenery #3 and berry branches from the Wreath Set.
- Punch out 1/8″ circles using red cardstock and attach them to the berry branches using glossy accents.
- Tuck the greenery and berry sections under the poinsettia and attach using glossy accents.
- Check out my how to Arrange Poinsettia and Holly on a Card Front video to the steps I used to create an arrangement like this.
You can see that other than the shaping and arranging the die cut poinsettia and greenery this is a fast card. And if you like making these little die cut winter floral arrangements, then this could be your batch card for the season! Remember, in nature, nothing is “perfect” so trying to make yours look that way is totally unnecessary. Just put your heart into it and it will be, well, “perfect”!

I think you will find these Rubbernecker poinsettia dies as easy to use as I do. Out of the three poinsettia die sets they offer, I think I use this Buildable one the most. The variety of sizes gives me ultimate flexibility and gives me the chance to tuck a flower wherever I want one.
Lovely card. The poinsettia is beautiful.
