Come see how to make this simple handmade holly card with just a few die cuts and some ink.
Today I want to share this simple handmade holly card because it’s so easy to make yet so festive. I love the bright pops of red with the green and white in this classic Christmas time color combo. Using just Rubbernecker’s Holly #1 die, I made a little sprig to adorn my frame made with their Inside Scallop Frame die, added a little sentiment decoration with their Small Tags die stamped with a saying from my own Kittie Says Christmas stamp set with them and added it all over a piece of patterned paper chosen from their Frosty Adventures 6×6 Paper Pad. I added some color details to my die cut holly sprig with Rubbernecker’s Color Fuse Inks – I love how they blend so beautifully and I can add realistic shading with so little effort!
The making of this card is so easy – let me share the steps so you can see ahead of time how fast this card will be to make. It’s a perfect batch making card!
Card Base, Frame and Sentiment
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and a 4.75″ x 3.50″ layer.
- Cut a 4.75″ x 3.50″ layer using a piece of designer paper from the Frosty Adventures 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the designer paper and attach it to the white layer.
- Adhere strips of mounting tape to the back of the designer paper layer and attach it to the card base.
- Cut the third size Inside Scallop Frame using red cardstock.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the bac of the frame and attach it to the card base.
- Use white cardstock to cut the Small Tags and stamp the sentiment using Nocturne ink and attach it to a red rectangle layer.
- Apply a piece of mounting tape to the back of the sentiment and attach it to the card base.
Die Cut Holly Branches and Berries
- Use green cardstock to cut Holly sections and red cardstock to cut the berries.
- Apply light touches of Clover ink to the holly leaves using a mini applicator to mimic the designer paper holly.
- Add touches of Pecan ink to the holly branch sections.
- Use glossy accents to attach the red berries to the holly branches.
- Attach the holly branches to the lower corner of the frame using glossy accents.
You can see how the inks blend together to create a realistic look on the die cut holly and set over the patterned paper, they echo each other making a very pretty look. The Holly set is so versatile. It’s pretty enough to use on it’s own and makes a perfect addition to larger die cut holiday card arrangements.
