This elegant Mother’s Day Frame and Flowers card will certainly touch mom’s heart and put a happy smile on her face.
I had such a good time making this elegant Mother’s Day Frame and Flowers Card. The beautiful paper is the perfect background to highlight the scalloped frame and the flower and ivy arrangement. For this card I used the Nested Circle Scallop with Holes, Classic Nested Circles, Mixable Flower Stack, Large Ivy, Happy Mother’s Day Clear Set and Welcome Spring 6×6 Paper Pad.
Before I start my tutorial I wanted to give you an update on why I haven’t been able to post regularly. Back in December my husband became very ill and after being in intensive care for two weeks was admitted in a skilled nursing facility for four months. It was touch and go for a while but through answered prayer he began improving and was able to come home on April 16th. He has a long way to go to gain back strength but he has a very positive attitude and is getting stronger every day.
The Card Base
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 (8.50″ x 5.50″) sized card base and score at 4.25″ with the 8.50″ side along the top of the Scor-Pal.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer using a pretty floral pattern paper from the Welcome Spring 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply ATG adhesive on the back of the floral paper layer and attach it to the card base. Pro Tip: I trim about a 1/8″ off the side and bottom of the card base before attaching the floral paper to guarantee the card base is totally covered.
You can see step by step pictures of how I created a very similar double matted circle frame on my Make a Layered Die Cut Circle Frame post. The decorative die is different but the steps are exactly the same.
The Scalloped Frame
- Use white cardstock to cut the Nested Scalloped Circle die.
- Place the scalloped layer back on the platform, line up the Classic Nested Circle die, secure in place with masking tape and run through the machine. Pro Tip: Using masking tape to secure your dies in place makes easy work when you need to cut with precise measurements.
- Cut an additional white layer, line up and cut a double circle opening using the next size larger circle die and the next size smaller circle die from the original frame opening to create a mat for the decorative frame.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the decorative frame and attach to the circle mat layer.
- Secure the circle mat in place on your work station with a piece of masking tape, line up the decorative frame and attach it to the mat.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the matted decorative frame and attach it to the card base.
Flower and Sentiment
- Cut a thin white strip, secure it and the Kittie Says Friends stamp in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.
- Trim the sentiment strip to fit across the frame opening and attach it using pieces of mounting tape.
- Cut a strip of dark pink cardstock to fit behind the sentiment strip and attach them together using double stick tape.
- Attach the sentiment to the center of the circle and attach to the base using mounting tape.
- Use dark pink cardstock to cut the Mixable Flower Stack sections
- Place the sections face down on the molding pad and roll over the petals using a round stylus.
- Turn the sections face up and push down in the centers using a small tipped stylus.
- Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents and then attach the flower to the frame using glossy accents.
- Use green cardstock to cut the Large Ivy sections.
- Tuck the ivy sections under the flower and attach using glossy accents.
Here are the products I used to make this card.

Just think, for an absolutely beautiful card all you need is some patterned paper and scraps to make a layered die cut circle frame to add all the drama. Bookmark this idea because you WILL use it over and over!
