Come see how to create a double layer framed card for holidays highlighting a festive Christmas tree with a colorful string of lights.
I love how the red, white and green color combination shows off the framed Christmas tree with the colorful string of lights. Layered frames are easy to make and add so much to card fronts. To make this project I used the Brass and Bliss String of Lights Edger, Christmas Tree, Outside Scallop Frame and Nested Rectangle with Square Holes.
Card Base and Frames
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the largest rectangle layer.
- Attach the rectangle layer to the card base using double stick tape.
- Cut the smaller rectangle layer using red cardstock and use the next sized rectangle to cut a frame opening.
- Use green cardstock to cut the scalloped frame and attach it to the red frame using double stick tape.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame layers and attach them to the card base.
Check out my Frame Category to see lots of different ways to use frames.
Christmas Tree
- Cut the Christmas tree sections using green cardstock and run them though a crimper to add dimension.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the layers and attach them together to create the full tree.
- Use gold metallic cardstock to cut the string for the lights.
- Cut the lights and top star using yellow, red and blue cardstock.
- Attach the lights to the string using Nuvo glue.
- Cut the string of lights into three sections and attach them and the large star to the tree using Nuvo glue.
