Good Sunday morning. My post today is featuring the Poppy die set, another of Susan Tierney Cockburn’s new flower dies that I have had and am just now getting to play with. I also put together a few pictures to show the steps I used to apply Pan Pastel and for the individual petals.
I started by cutting out all the pieces for the poppy. I applied Pan Pastel to all the petals, formed the petals with the loop tool and tweezers and assembled the flower.
I followed along with the steps in Susan’s Poppy video tutorial. It is well worth watching. You can also see step by step photos below of how I applied the black color to the petals and how I formed the petals.
I stamped the image with black versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder. I created a double matted frame using the Spellbinders Matting Basics B set. I attached the frame over the sentiment layer with mounting tape.
Here’s a closer view of the poppy so you can see the inside better. The black on the petals and black flower centers were a little hard to capture well in the photos.
Check out my Black-Eyed Susan post yesterday if you would like a chance to win my blog candy prize of the Spellbinders Grand Rectangles set.
Thanks for stopping and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Pan Pastel application and forming petals. A picture speaks a thousand words.
Lightly apply the pan pastel by pushing the applicator up from the base of the petal and up into the center of the petal. create an uneven line of black across the petal for a natural look.
Lay the petal on the molding pad and light push in with the loop tool and pull down to the bottom of the petal.
Repeat this step several times until your petal has form and dimension.
Lightly turn the petal edges back by gripping with your tweezers.
Hold the center of the petal in place with your tweezers and pinch around the tweezers with your fingers to round the petal.
I hope these photos help.
