Good Sunday morning. Today is my last day of vacation and I must return to work tomorrow. I kept telling my husband that I really need to retire so I can stay home all the time but he said our mortgage company wouldn’t like it much. LOL! My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and was a real challenge for me. Our inspiration site was The Perfect Palette and for some reason I decided to use the tiffany blue, chartreuse and white color combination. The further I got into my project the more I wanted to stop and start something else. But in the end I decided it would build a little creative character to keep going. My flowers and leaves were made with the new Creative Expressions Camellia Complete set and the frames were made using the Calozonia Frame and the Mansfield Frame Here’s what I came up with.
I cut the frames and applied mounting tape to the back of the larger frame and rolled up 1/2” double stick tape to the back of the smaller one and I attached them to the card base.
I can’t believe what a difference it makes using rolled up double stick tape instead of mounting tape to attach thin die cuts like the small frame. The pictures below were taken from another post that showed using 1/8” tape but it’s the same technique with any width.
Attach the tape to a hard surface.
Roll up with your fingers to create a long thin string of adhesive.
I cut three set of flowers and leaves, molded them with my stylus and molding pad and bent the petals of the flowers around lightly with my needle nose pliers. I attached the three layers of flowers together with glossy accents to form each flower and attached the leaves with glossy accents.
I attached the card base inside the small frame with small pieces of mounting tape so they would stand evenly with the frame. I applied large pearls to the frame and tiny pearls in the flower centers for the finishing touch.
Here’s a closer view. For some reason the background looks lavender in the photo. These colors were very hard to photograph for some reason.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying your Sunday.
Card size: 5.50” x 4.25”
Kittie, I so love all the flowers you do….I was gonna say I get green with envy but this time, it’s blue with envy…..lol. Such a pretty card… thank you for sharing your creativity
This is beautiful Kittie.. Love the colors.
Very pretty card. I would not have thought of putting these two colors together yet they look lovely. The flowers look so cute in the center.
Lovely creation and unique! Thank you sooooooooooooo much about rolling the mounting tape….you are soooooooooo clever! It makes a clean finish instead of chunks visible from the side of a card!!!!! THANK YOU KITTIE!
Paper Hugs,
Jan
Good Morning, Kittie. A beautiful creation. In my connection the frame came up close to robin egg blue in your paper, the leaves in one photo came up with more yellow than green, and then the next they were green as your paper. It is not your fault with color. The photo color picks up the most predominate color. If more yellow than green will pick up the yellow first, If more aqua in the blue that would come up. That makes it hard to photo. but your creations are gorgeous an not to worry.
When I use my colored pencils I use a true light, this helps me determine the layering effects better and blending. I also use that when I photograph.
just info, I haven’t found any problem with your pictures and tutorials.
not to worry. have a good week-end……Hugs,….remember its a beautiful creation.
This card is so gorgeous! I LOVE the colors and the frames, you have created another work of art. TFS.
