Sentiment With Flowers

Today I’m sharing a fairly clean and simple card with a framed sentiment with flowers and foliage. The brightly colored flowers and foliage pops against the black and white and draws the eye in to the sentiment.  I used the Crinkle Oval Frame to create a frame for the Thinking of You sentiment and cut out out the oval frame using the Nested Oval set.  The Mixable Flower Stack 5109D and Large Ivy were created to embellish the frame and sentiment.  I used the Vertical Stripe stamp to create the bold background.

Create a classic card by framing the sentiment with flowers and foliage and layering it on a card base with a bold background.

The Striped Card Base

  • Cut a white A2 sized card base.
  • Secure a piece of white cardstock and the striped stamp in the MISTI.
  • Apply Nocturne ink to the stamp and stamp on the cardstock. Note:  I love using my MISTI to stamp.  It allows me to stamp more than once to make sure I get good coverage.
  • Apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss.
  • Cut the striped piece to 5.25″ x 4.00″, apply strips of mounting tape and attach to the card base.

The Crinkle Frame and Sentiment

  • Secure a piece of white cardstock and the Crinkle Oval Frame in the MISTI.
  • Apply Nocturne ink and stamp.
  • Repeat the step with the sentiment stamp.
  • Apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss.
  • Place the sentiment layer on the cutting platform and cover with a piece of waxed paper.
  • Line up the oval die over the Crinkle Oval Frame and run through the machine.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the oval layer and attach to the card base.

Frame a sentiment with flowers and highlight the layer by placing it on a card base with a bold background.

The Flowers and Ivy

  • Cut the flowers using bright pink cardstock and the ivy using bright green cardstock.
  • Place the flowers face down on the molding pad and form the petals using the round stylus.
  • Place the flowers face up and push down in the center of each layer using a small tipped stylus.
  • Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents.
  • Attach the ivy sections to the oval sentiment layer using glossy accents.
  • Finish the card by attaching the flowers to the sentiment layer using glossy accents.

Create a lovely card by framing the sentiment with flowers and placing it on a bold background.

Frame a Sentiment with Flowers

For my project today I show how I frame a sentiment with flowers.  I had this large purple flower on my desk from recording the paper flower shaping video that I posted earlier this week and thought I would use it with foliage, a couple smaller flowers and a floral frame to highlight a sentiment.  The Special Joy sentiment could be used for any special occasion-birthday, anniversary, thinking of you, etc.  I framed it using the Floral Frame, Organic Shapable Poppy, Mixed Flower Stack and Flowers #5 (leaves)

Click through to come over and see how I framed a sentiment with a floral frame, flowers and foliage using dies by Rubbernecker.

The Card Base, Sentiment and Floral Frame

  • Cut an A2 sized card base and Floral Frame using white cardstock.
  • Use the frame to line up where in the opening the sentiment should be stamped.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.

Click on the photo to come over and see how I framed a sentiment with a floral frame, flowers and foliage using dies by Rubbernecker.

The Purple and Pink Flowers and Leaves

  • Cut the flowers using purple and pink cardstock.
  • Place the purple flower sections face down on the molding pad and form the petals using a large round stylus.
  • Form the small purple flower sections using a smaller ball stylus and molding pad.
  • Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents. Note:  Check out my Paper Flower Shaping 1 video if you would like to see how made the large purple flower.
  • Place the pink flower sections face down on the molding pad, form them with a small round stylus and attach the sections together using glossy accents.
  • Cut the leaves using green cardstock. and score the leaves using the leaf tool.
  • Note:  If you want to make beautiful flowers you need to have the right tools.  I highly recommend the Sizzix Paper Sculpting Kit.  It contains everything you need to shape and create beautiful flowers.

Sizzix Paper Sculpting Kit

Arrange the Flowers and Leaves

  • Cut the leaf branch apart in two sections leaving the three top leaves on the branch together.
  • Attach the three leaf section to the upper left corner of the frame pointing down the side of the card and attach using glossy accents.
  • Cut the remaining two leaves apart and attach them to the upper left corner pointing across the top of the card and attach using glossy accents.
  • Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the flowers and attach them to the card base.
  • Finish the flowers by attaching white premade Nuvo Crystal Drops to the flower centers using glossy accents.

Sentiments for Handmade Cards – One of My Faves!

I am ALWAYS looking for good sentiments for handmade cards and I just love this one. I make lots of cards with paper flowers – I love them as I am sure you’ve seen! – and this sentiment fits so many occasions. It can be for encouragement, congratulations, sympathy, birthday….. I am sort of having trouble as I write this thinking of a time when this stamp from Rubbernecker would NOT work!

For this project I used the Rubbernecker Watering Can, Large Ivy, Small Flowers #1, Small Butterfly, Nested Rectangle Scallop and Blooms Your Way.

Looking for good sentiments for handmade cards? Click through to see one of my faves.

The Card and Sentiment Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and scalloped layer and purple cardstock to cut the purple layer.
  • Secure the sentiment stamp and scalloped layer in the MISTI.
  • Apply Nocturne ink to the stamp and stamp the sentiment.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the scalloped layer and attach to the purple layer.
  • Use mounting tape to attach the scalloped sentiment layers to the card base.

I am always looking for sentiments for handmade cards that are all occasion - come see why I love this one!

The Watering Can Flower Arrangement

  • Cut the watering can using gray cardstock, the flowers and butterfly using purple cardstock and the ivy using green cardstock.
  • Apply a light layer of Wild Honey ink to key spots of the watering can using a mini applicator.
  • Continue adding darker touches of shading using Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo inks using mini applicators to finish the can.
  • Create the ivy arrangement by attaching branches to the back of the can using glossy accents.
  • Form the tiny flowers using s small tipped stylus and molding pad and attach them to the ivy using glossy accents.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the can and ivy and attach it to the card base.
  • Apply pre made white Nuvo Crystal Drops to the small butterfly using glossy accents.
  • Finish the card by attaching the small butterfly to the sentient layer using glossy accents.

Sentiments for handmade cards can be hard to find - come see why this one from Rubbernecker is a great pick!

So if you are a collector of or are searching for excellent sentiments for handmade cards, I suggest you check out this. Just add any flowers and you are good to go!  You may want to check out the whole new release of sentiments over on the Rubbernecker site.  I appreciate you coming by and I hope you have a great day.

Dance In The Rain

Today I’m sharing a clean and simple sentiment card using the Dance in the Rain sentiment. I used Rubbernecker Stamps Sentiment, Rectangle Combo #4 frame, Deckle Hills, Sea Grass and Small Birds.

Come see how I made this fpretty dance in the rain sentiment card enhanced with sea grass.

The Dance in the Rain Sentiment

  • Stamp the sentiment on  the white card base using Versa Mark.
  • Apply super fine gold embossing powder and heat with the heat gun.

Finish the Card

  • Cut the frame using white cardstock.
  • Attach the two frame sections together on the back using double stick tape.
  • Cut the deckle hill using white cardstock and attach it to the lower section of the frame.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the frame sections and attach it to the card base.
  • Cut the bird using gold metallic cardstock, apply a small piece of mounting tape to the back of the bird and attach it to the card base.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this white on white dance in the rain sentiment card,  I only showed on picture as it was so hard to photograph and almost impossible to get the gold bird to show up gold.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great day.

Die Cut Love Sentiment

Good Wednesday morning.  I have a clean, simple, fast and easy die cut love sentiment card to share with you today.  I love the bright and colorful Lawn Fawn Spring Fling designer paper and thought it would be so pretty used with a simple die cut sentiment layered over vellum.  The sentiment is still the main focal point but the floral background can still be seen through the vellum.  I used the Rubbernecker Love sentiment, Leaf Group and Small Flowers #1 and layered using the Nested Rectangle Scallop and Nested Rectangle Scallop with Holes.

die cut love sentiment card.

Die Cut Love Sentiment

  • Cut the sentiment twice using Candy Hearts cardstock.
  • Apply small dots of glossy accents to the back of one sentiment and attach it to the second sentiment.
  • Cut tiny flowers using white cardstock and apply Peony ink to the flower centers using a mini applicator.
  • Form the tiny flowers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
  • Cut leaves using green cardstock.
  • Attach small leaf sections and flowers to the sentiment using glossy accents.

Assemble The Card

  • Cut the flower designer paper using the rectangle scalloped die.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the floral layer and attach it to the white card base.
  • Cut the vellum layer using the rectangle scalloped die with holes.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to several key places on the back of the sentiment and attach it to the vellum layer.
  • Turn the vellum layer face down, attach rolled up 1/8″ glue dots to several places right behind the letters and turn over and attach to the floral card base.  Note:  placing the glue dots right behind the letters allows the whole layer to be attached but doesn’t allow any of the glue dots to show through the vellum.

Come see how I made this lovely die cut love sentiment card.

I love how pretty this die cut love sentiment card turned out.  The flowers are so bright and cheerful and still show through behind the vellum layer.  This will be a perfect card to send to my mother-in-law.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing my project today.  Thanks for coming by and have a great hump day.
