My project today was made using the new Christmas Morning paired with the Pine Branch. I love this precious silhouette with the Christmas tree scene. My goal was to create a lit backdrop in contrast with the girl.

Christmas Morning

I started by stamping the the image twice on watercolor paper with black versafine. I wanted one to be the base for the scene. I used my craft knife and snips to cut out the arch opening and girl of the second to pop up over the base to create dimension and interest.

I watercolored the images using my waterbrush and Distress reinkers. I colored the red ornaments with a red marker. I attached the image base layer to the card base with ATG adhesive. I attached the arch/girl layer to the base with mounting tape.

I cut a double matted frame using Classic Ovals and attached over the scene with mounting tape creating another layer of dimension.  I added the bright red multi loop bow and pine branches for the finishing touch.

  1. Great IO Xmas card, Kittie! LOVE how you added the dimension and created the “light” and shadow of her silhouette. Cool! 🙂

  2. Ooops! Forgot to say that I like your CUTE CLASSroom camping card! Great way to layer the grass, deer, trees while nestling that fun powder blue camper in there. Of course your details such as the flowers and butterfly, clouds and sun rock, too! 🙂

  3. Love all of your cards. What caught my eye on this one was the shadow behind the silhouette – nice touch!! Beautiful card!!

  4. Both cards are over-the-top Kittie, but I especially love the Christmas card. It reminds me so much of your past Christmas cards at SCS before blog land, facebook, pinterest, etc., happened. You always make the most beautiful cards that take one back in time. Thank you!! I treasure looking at your nostalgic designs. 🙂 Hugs and Blessings!!!

  5. Both cards are great. Love the shadow on the Christmas card such style and creativity- and the camping one is too cute. You are so talented and creative. Thank you for sharing such wonderful techniques.

  6. Oh my this Christmas card is amazing….just gorgeous and a lot of work. Wonderful stamp.
Camper is also very cute…Terrific job as always Kittie.

  7. Wow – you really have a way with dies! And the stamp even looks like a die in this case – beautiful silhouette! Your other card is gorgeous too and I’m going to take a look at your tutorial – I need all the help I can get – I love your style!

  8. Your Christmas card is so beautiful and rich and love the silhouette! It reminds me of when my sisters and I were young and used to sneak peeks on Christmas Eve to see if Santa arrived. Your camping card is adorable! I love the deer peeking out here and there.

  9. WoW!!!! Kittie this card is jaw dropping amazingly, gorgeous!!! I have been waiting for your first Christmas creation during this blog hop, it was worth the wait. The fussy cut layers make this card over the top. The pine branch is the perfect added 3d element. Thank you for sharing this amazing, inspiring, art card.

  10. WOW! I LOVE these cards! I was hoping someone would use that stamp of the little child peeping in the room! What a super job you did with that!! LOVED it!!! Love the camper scene too, so very clever! I said it once, I have to say it again – you are too AMAZING for words!! Could you please just give me one little tiny ounce of your talent? Please?? Pretty please??

  11. You scored a ’10’ for Christmas morning! I can almost hear the child gasp with delight at the gifts left under the tree.

  12. Good Morning, Kittie. I just finished looking at the other sites, and also your classroom camper. I left a compliment there. Love that scene.
this is such a cute Christmas card. The wishing and wonder of childhood waiting for Christmas morning, seeking around the corner to peek and see if Santa has come. Or just admiring the beauty of Christmas with tree, and lights. I really love how you did the dimension, and the gorgeous colors. I admire your cutting ability with craft knife, haven’t mastered that one. ….love the whole feeling here. …have a good day.

  13. Love the Christmas morning stamp and the gorgeous card you made with the wonderful dimension and the added shadow of the little girl.

  14. Great looks for both cards Kittie….especially like the little girl looking in the doorway! You always do such beautiful work!!!!

  15. There is a new movie, that opened last Friday, called “LUCY”. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. Freeman explains that Lucy’s brain functions and is still elevating. He says the average person only uses ten percent of their brain capacity. To me you are “LUCY of the card world”!!
Both of your cards are fabulous filled with exciting and interesting details. TFS.
