Christmas Gate and Arbor Scene

Good Saturday morning.  I am sharing a festive Christmas gate and arbor scene today made using Rubbernecker’s Gate and Arbor paired with the Deckle Hills, Tiny Leaves and Small Birds.  I posted a spring Gate and Arbor Scene a few weeks ago made with pretty pink flowers and butterflies along with a couple of cats playing in the scene. I think I will have to work on creating a summer and fall scene with the set to cover all four seasons.

Come see how I made this Christmas gate and arbor scene.

The Scene Base

  • Cut the red and blue layers and attach them together using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the layers and attach to the card base.

The Gate and Arbor

  • Cut the arbor and two gate sections using white cardstock.
  • Cut the hinges and handle using black cardstock.
  • Apply glossy accents to the side tabs on the gate and attach to the arbor.
  • Attach the hinges and handle to the gate using glossy accents.
  • Cut the second gate section in half, trim to fit on both sides of the arbor and attach them using glossy accents.

Come see how I made this festive Christmas gate and arbor scene.

The Holly Bough

  • Cut two sections of the larger leaves and two sections of the smaller leaves using green cardstock.
  • Form the leaves by placing them face up on the molding pad and push down in the center of each using the leaf tool from the Garden Tool Kit.
  • Create the holly bough on the top of the arbor by attaching the leaves using glossy accents.
  • Start in the center of the arbor and attach the leaves evenly across the top going in both directions using a center, left, right pattern.
  • Tie a red multi loop bow and attach in the center of the bough using glue dots. I buy this ribbon at Michaels for .99 cents a roll.
  • Punch out several 1/8″ circles using red cardstock, apply glossy accents and attach them in the holly bough.

The Wreath

  • Cut out a small circle about 3/4″ using green cardstock.
  • Cut out the center of the circle to create the wreath base.  The picture below is from my wreath tutorial but I thought it would be helpful for you to see it.https://kittiekraft.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/6a00e54ed958f38833015437680300970c.jpg
  • Apply a drop of glossy accents to one end of the cut circle and attach it to the other side to create the wreath base.
  • Attach the leaves to the wreath base in a center, left, right pattern and work your way all the way around.
  • When you get all the way around you will need to lift up the leaves and tuck in the last few to complete the wreath.
  • Punch out several 1/16″ circles using red cardstock (I know…..they are tiny but they are the perfect size) and attach them to the wreath using glossy accents.
  • Apply glossy accents to the back of the wreath and attach it to the gate.

Complete the Christmas Gate and Arbor Scene

  • Cut two Deckle Hill layers and trim to the size of the red and blue layer.
  • Attach one layer to the base using double stick tape.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the gate and arbor sections and attach to the base.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the second deckle layer and attach it to the front of the gate and arbor.
  • Attach leaves to the fence sections using glossy accents and tiny red bows using glue dots.
  • Attach several red birds using small pieces of mounting tape to finish the scene.

Come see how I made this Christmas gate and arbor scene.

This Christmas gate and arbor scene was so much fun to make.  I hope you have been inspired to get out some of your outdoor dies that would normally be used to spring and summer and create a winter/holiday themed card with them.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great Saturday.

  1. What a great idea bringing this gate into a winter/Christmas card…loving the contrast between your Spring and Winter. What a pretty arbor…gotta have..Don’t you love spending my money?

  2. That is so pretty, I may want to do this design for my brothers and sisters Christmas cards this year, if that’s ok 🙂 I love it!

  3. A lovely Christmas scene for a greeting. I like the pretty arbour tucked into the fluffy snowbanks and decorated with the lovely boughs and bows. The little red birds look very happy!
Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring! 🙂
